Argentine citizenship: birth, parentage and ordinary naturalisation
Identify the route, the documents and the residence requirement before relying on a two-year claim. Ordinary naturalisation and announced investment citizenship are separate.
Choose the legal route first
Law 346 treats birth in Argentina, subject to its diplomatic exception, separately from an option for a person born abroad to a native Argentine parent. Confirm the relevant civil record and official procedure for each family member.
Marriage or having an Argentine relative is not by itself a citizenship certificate. Identify the family-residence category separately. If you already have a citizenship claim through birth or parentage, investigate it before considering a paid investment route.
What the published two-year procedure requires
DNM’s published procedure addresses adults with temporary or permanent residence. It requires two continuous legal years before applying, without departures abroad, a DNI, lawful livelihood and Argentine criminal-record evidence. It directs applications to RaDEX.
This is the administration’s published procedure. Two years is an eligibility period, not a citizenship decision or passport-delivery deadline. The current Law 346 text includes the DNU’s strict continuity wording; court proceedings and an earlier application can require a different legal analysis.
Choose a residence category that fits your actual activity
Rentista requires qualifying returns on the applicant’s own foreign assets and excludes remuneration for personal work. Pensionado concerns a qualifying regular permanent pension. Both procedures use a threshold of five SMVM; do not substitute an old fixed-dollar figure.
The digital-nomad permission is transitory: 180 days, extendable by the same period, for eligible visa-exempt nationalities providing remote services abroad. It is not the temporary/permanent category named in the naturalisation procedure. Do not promise that nomad days create a two-year passport route.
Resolve the filing and travel questions for your case
The original 30 June 2026 judgment concerns ordinary citizenship and declares DNU 366/2025 null. Its file began before the decree. DNM’s published service page and the judicial decision answer different questions. Obtain current advice on forum, appeals, continuity and any earlier application before leaving or filing.
Keep a private chronology of residence grants, entries and departures, DNI history and any court filings. Check the consequences for your existing nationality and tax position separately. Do not send passport scans or case files to this website.
