Canada allows multiple citizenships. Most dual Canadian citizens need a valid Canadian passport to board a flight to Canada. Canadian-American dual citizens have a specific exception; check the official rule for your combination.

The decision to make before paying

Do not confuse the requirements for a Canadian returning home with those for an Argentine visitor to Canada. An Argentine passport alone does not give every traveller Canadian eTA eligibility.

Family contributions

The announced additional Treasury contributions are US$100,000 for a spouse, US$100,000 per child aged 18–25 who is unmarried and has no children, and US$25,000 per child under 18. A main applicant, spouse and two minor children total US$500,000 on the contribution route.

Application framework

Decree 524/2025 assigns APCI the evaluation and recommendation, and DNM the final citizenship decision. Its 30-working-day DNM period begins on receipt of APCI’s report, not when an applicant starts the process.
