Argentina investment citizenship · Decision guide
Argentina citizenship by investment for US citizens
Nationality, existing rights, funding preparation and the Argentine application questions that matter for US citizens.
What happens to your current nationality?
U.S. law permits dual nationality. Acquiring another nationality does not by itself mean giving up U.S. citizenship; intent and the applicable law matter. U.S. citizens must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States.
The decision to make before paying
Separate passport goals from tax goals. A second citizenship does not turn off U.S. worldwide-income reporting. Map U.S. accounts, foreign accounts and any business interests with a cross-border tax adviser before moving funds.
A practical applicant scenario
For a US-based founder, compare the capital commitment with the rights you already have. If regional residence is the main objective, investigate ordinary Argentine residence before assuming investment citizenship is necessary.
What to prepare and ask
Prepare an income-to-bank reconciliation: salary or dividends, the account receiving them and the account intended to fund the application. Ask about tax reporting separately from programme approval.
Create a private list of citizenships, residence countries, family members and the lawful source of the intended funds. These are preparation categories, not the programme’s final document checklist.
How the Argentine application fits
Argentina’s announcement describes assessment of identity, funds and background. Your current nationality does not establish approval. Check the published programme status, final nationality restrictions and official filing channel before making an application or payment.
