Five worked relocation plans for Argentina
Follow a preparation sequence for a family, student, local employee, remote worker or founder, with documents, cost checks and help when a step is blocked.

Choose the example closest to your situation
Each example states assumptions and ends with evidence you should have before moving on. Compare your facts against the official route; the examples do not determine eligibility or promise an approval date.
Choose a section below, obtain the documents and quotes it identifies, then use the five-question planner to keep relevant tasks, progress and personal follow-up dates. Keep passport numbers and documents out of the planner.
Family moving with a school-age child
Example: parents and a school-age child plan a longer stay. First check the residence route for each person; accompanying family is not automatically eligible under the same category. Obtain the required civil-status and relationship records and check apostille/legalisation and translation instructions before travel.
Sequence: compare residence categories → prepare each person’s required documents → shortlist addresses around the actual school and health network → start the correct filing channel → arrange DNI when the category permits it. Ask the school about enrollment now: missing Argentine DNI does not remove access to initial, primary or secondary education using origin-country documents.
Ready to move on: a per-person document list, written school response, dated housing and health quotes and confirmed filing channel. Budget for each person’s paperwork plus enrollment, childcare and setup; do not multiply a single-person budget by headcount.
If stuck: ask the school for its written reason, use the relevant education authority if DNI is used to block enrollment, and use the residence-problem guide for filing or DNI issues. Keep a temporary housing option while essentials remain unresolved.
Student starting a recognised programme
Example: a foreign student has an offer from an Argentine institution. Ask the institution to identify the exact recognised programme and residence procedure, enrollment evidence, start date and any institution registration requirement. An informal course or acceptance email alone does not establish the student category.
Sequence: confirm programme and institution evidence → compare in-country and before-arrival procedures → prepare required documents → obtain course, housing and health quotes → file through the stated channel → keep case and enrollment evidence for later checks.
Ready to move on: institution response, route-specific document checklist and a feasible study/commute budget. Ask separately about work permission if you intend to earn locally; do not infer it from enrollment.
If stuck: return to the institution’s international office for missing enrollment or institution records, then use DNM’s official case channel for a document request. Keep a dated record of what was requested and supplied.
Employee with an Argentine job offer
Example: a foreign national has a local job offer. Ask the employer for the pre-contract and employer evidence required by the migrant-worker route. Compare any nationality-based or family route separately. A job offer alone does not establish residence or permission to start.
Sequence: confirm route and employer records → prepare documents → agree the lawful start conditions with employer/adviser → obtain the appropriate work identifier → confirm employer registration, payroll and health arrangements → keep the signed employment and registration evidence.
Ready to move on: a dated route check, agreed start conditions, employer paperwork and a salary-versus-living-cost comparison. Ask for salary currency, deductions, pay date and relocation benefits in writing.
If stuck: ask which employer or authority record is missing and who must provide it. Use the residence-problem guide for an existing file; do not treat a private checklist as approval to start work.
Remote worker serving foreign clients or an employer abroad
Example: a visa-exempt foreign national provides remote services to foreign-domiciled recipients. Investigate the digital-nomad route and its separate pre-entry or in-country procedure. The transitory category does not provide DNI. If nationality or activity does not fit, compare another route rather than treating remote work as an exemption.
Sequence: record nationality, actual activity, recipients and intended duration → verify route and filing location → obtain income/activity, insurance and identity evidence called for → check the tax position in Argentina and your home country → confirm payment access and a dated housing/connectivity budget.
Ready to move on: a matched official procedure, route-specific document list, expiry/review dates and unresolved tax/payment questions for an adviser. The planner orders preparation; it does not select a legal category for you.
If stuck: use the route’s stated channel, not general RaDEX by default. If a bank requires DNI or other records, compare the documented account paths before relying on local access. Keep your permission expiry distinct from tax-residence rules.
Founder opening a local business
Example: individuals plan a local service business. First decide whether to operate as an individual, form a local company or use a foreign-company route. Confirm legal address and registry; CABA, Buenos Aires Province and Córdoba are different paths. Ownership does not itself resolve personal residence or work permission.
Sequence: review activity and tax position → confirm form, owners and jurisdiction → prepare formation and representation records → confirm whether CUIT is integrated → activate applicable taxes, invoice permissions and banking → check local operation and staff requirements before opening or hiring.
Ready to move on: a written form/jurisdiction rationale, required documents, registration confirmations, invoice test and named owners for ongoing deadlines. Obtain separate legal, registry, accountant, premises and payroll quotes. Registration is only one part of the operating budget.
If stuck: respond through the registry’s stated channel and obtain advice for foreign corporate participants or conflicting requirements. The SAS example is CABA-specific; use the SRL/provincial or foreign-company guide when that matches the structure.
Keep your preparation and recovery route together
Use My Plan for preparation tasks and follow-up dates; download a backup before changing devices. Keep the actual case number, documents and official notices separately in your own secure records. If you receive a formal adverse decision or a permission is expiring, obtain case-specific assistance promptly.
